With a 15-year career as a professional musician and performer, Steve Mecca honed the discipline and artistry required to master the voice as an instrument, understanding its sensitivity to lifestyle and emotion. Today, he channels that experience into crafting evocative compositions that blend orchestral tradition with contemporary rock and electronic influences. Inspired by composers like John Williams, Trent Reznor, and Hans Zimmer, as well as films like Avatar and Hackers, Steve Mecca gravitates toward dark, mysterious tones with elements of fantasy and minimalism.

Equipped with a diverse toolkit of virtual instruments, sample libraries, and his distinct vocal abilities, Steve Mecca creates music that transcends the ordinary, inviting audiences to step out of reality and immerse themselves in new worlds. Aspiring to score HBO series like Westworld or groundbreaking video games, Steve Mecca brings a performer’s heart and a composer’s craft to every project.

Steve Mecca is a multifaceted composer, audio engineer, and performer with a deep passion for storytelling through music. From conducting Jurassic Park’s iconic score on a childhood boom box, performing as a front man in original bands and a successful event band, to managing event productions as Director of Production at Flushing Town Hall, Steve has consistently embraced creative challenges with resilience and vision.

At Flushing Town Hall, Steve serves as the Director of Production, producing over 100 events each year. There, he oversees staffing, training, budgeting, and technological advancements. In 2020, he played a pivotal role in the organization’s transition to virtual programming, training colleagues to use various virtual and digital platforms. These efforts supported the programming of nearly 400 virtual events in 2021 and helped secure a $30,000 grant from The Howard Gilman Foundation to purchase video broadcast equipment, still in use today to support the organization's live streaming platform, CultureStream.tv. Through these experiences, Steve gained invaluable insights into the importance of agility and adaptability, as well as a profound belief that art and artists must be protected for their role in representing the thoughts, ideas, and emotions of the many.

With formal training in vocal performance and studio production at Five Towns College in Long Island, NY - Steve has cultivated a robust foundation in audio engineering, music theory, arranging, performing and pulling the best of talent, both in the studio and on stage.

His career began as a live sound assistant, eventually becoming a monitor engineer with EKO Productions in Deer Park, NY, where he worked with various national acts over seven years. These experiences instilled a deep understanding of the contrasts between controlled studio environments and the dynamic nature of live performances, teaching him how to adapt to ever-changing variables. Through this, Steve discovered the power of simplicity, learning that well-mixed, simple arrangements can be as impactful as complex compositions.

Inspired by composers like John Williams, Ludwig Göransson, Trent Reznor, Ramin, Djawadi, James Horner, Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer; and films/shows like Avatar, Westworld, Steve blends orchestral tradition with modern rock and electronic influences. Equipped with a diverse toolkit of virtual instruments, sample libraries, and his distinctive vocal abilities, he crafts evocative compositions that transport audiences out of reality and into the worlds of the stories they tell.

Aspiring to score HBO series like Westworld or groundbreaking video games, Steve Mecca brings a performer’s heart and a composer’s craft to every project.
